Moving premises

We spent the day moving out of our small office/shop today and moved into our larger dive centre.

It's going to take a while to get set up, but it'll be worth it.

A nice little dive on the Ponus again today. We took the Sartek for another spin. Tide was ebbing and the maximum depth was only 3.5m but this Falmouth shipwreck still makes a nice dive. 

At last we have sorted out the steering for the boat. We had a small mounting bracket for the hydraulic steering go missing, one of our past students has offered to make a new one for us. He has also offered us a new helm fascia, how could we resist.

Well, we have looked around the new premises and have agreed to take them on. The new premises are still on Trenoweth Business Park at Mabe. They will allow us to incorporate the shop with the cylinder testing centre.

The enlarged shop will allow us to take in the new range of Poseidon diving equipment, as well as some of their existing range. Making us a Poseidon Stockist as well as a Poseidon service centre.

The conditions weren't too clever but the camera wasn't bad. Just for fun it hailed afterwards!

Brass on a shore dive!

Whilst diving with the Sartek camera on a shore dive in Falmouth I found this -

Not sure exactly what it is. It is around 2" diameter and nearly 2" long. It was covered in rust and inside was the remains of a steel sleeve with grease and a ball bearing. The wreck is a WWI German U-Boat that ended up on the shore at Falmouth. Maximum depth for this dive was just 3.4m.

We did try and bring up one of the cast iron ballast blocks but it was too heavy for the 25kg lift bag we had with us. More lift bags required next time :)

Sartek Underwater Photo's

The Sartek HD Buddy Sport camera and housing went underwater yesterday. It was a shallow shore dive with some big waves. This meant a lot of movement underwater and much reduced visibilty. Anyway, enough of the excuses, here's a couple of pics with videos to follow.

I have used the Sartek, iPhone and my camera with the Inon 165 degree fish eye lens for comparison. Pictures all taken from teh edge of my desk.

And last the iPhone. The lens is 150 degree according to the paperwork, it's probably about right.

New Larger Premises?

We have been negotiating for larger premises today. Somewhere we can have our retail shop as well as the cylinder testing and regulator servicing centre. Having a good look around tomorrow morning to see if it will all fit.

We will still be at Trenoweth Business Park in Mabe, just in a 'real' unit if it goes ahead.

Sartek HD Sport Buddy camera

The brand new Sartek HD Sport Buddy camera turned up on Tuesday.

We will be selling these in the U.K. with an 80m rated underwater housing, it includes all cables and attachment straps.

The housing for the camera is only slightly larger.

It went diving on Wednesday, conditions were rough and visibility wasn't good. What a great way to put it to the test.
